The studio
Two notebooks and a window.
Mountlake is a desk, not an office. We edit our own walking notes into short guides for people who would rather be outside than reading about it for long.
The name is a habit, not a pin on a map. Climb until the whole lake is in view, then write down only what you would still remember on the way down. Everything else is weather, and weather does not need our help.
We do not lead groups, and we do not rent boats. A page is finished when someone who has never been there can tell the jetty from the fallen birch, and can tell when the path is asking them to stop.
What the notes cover
- Light on the water, and the short hour when it stays put
- Tracks that hold after rain, including the dull parts
- Pencil studies of a shoreline, kept only if the line is honest
